Unlock Your Future with Scholarships from National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
Are you a student in India dreaming of higher education but worried about finances? The National Scholarship Portal, available at scholarships.gov.in, is your one-stop platform for accessing a wide range of scholarships offered by the Central and State Governments.
Whether you’re in school, college, or a professional course, NSP offers schemes tailored for SC/ST/OBC, minorities, differently-abled, and economically weaker sections. From pre-matric support to post-graduate funding, the portal ensures that no deserving student is left behind.
Applying is simple: register online, verify your Aadhaar, fill in your academic and bank details, and upload documents. The system tracks your application through every step—making the process transparent and hassle-free.
Each student can receive only one central scholarship per academic year, so choose wisely using the eligibility checker on the site. Remember to apply before the deadline—most central schemes close by October 31st each year.
Take the first step toward a brighter future. Visit scholarships.gov.in today and explore the opportunities waiting for you.
UGC’s Ishan Uday Scholarship
UGC’s Ishan Uday Scholarship
The UGC’s Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme is a flagship initiative aimed at boosting higher education access for students from India’s North Eastern Region (NER): Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
Open to students who’ve passed Class XII from NER boards and secured admission to the first year of a full-time undergraduate program, this scheme supports those with a parental income up to ₹4.5 lakh per annum. Recipients benefit from monthly stipends—₹5,400 for general degree courses, ₹7,800 for professional/technical/medical programs—transferred directly via the National Scholarship Portal and DBT.
Since its launch in 2014–15, the scheme has awarded approximately 10,000 fresh scholarships annually, enhancing educational outcomes for economically weaker students in NER.
Eligible candidates should apply online each academic year during the NSP application window. This scholarship offers vital support to make higher education a realistic and achievable goal.
North Eastern Council (NEC) Merit Scholarship
North Eastern Council (NEC) Merit Scholarship
The NEC Merit Scholarship, available through the National Scholarship Portal, supports deserving students from India’s North Eastern Region (NER)—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
Open to those enrolled in diploma, degree, postgraduate, M.Phil., or Ph.D. programs, the scholarship requires a minimum of 60% marks in the qualifying exam and a family income not exceeding ₹8 lakh per annum . Award amounts range from ₹20,000/year for diploma, ₹22,000 for degree-level, ₹25,000 for postgraduates, to ₹30,000 for M.Phil./Ph.D. scholars.
Selection is purely merit-based, with no category or gender quota; lower family income gets preference in case of tied scores. Scholarships are renewed yearly via NSP, subject to academic progress and promotion to the next level.
Eligible students should apply online during the NSP window. This scholarship is a vital opportunity to pursue higher education with financial support within India’s premier institutes.
ONGC Merit Scholarship
ONGC Merit Scholarship
The ONGC Merit Scholarship, offered by the ONGC Foundation via ongcscholar.org, provides ₹48,000 annually (₹4,000/month) to deserving first-year students in Engineering, MBBS, MBA, Geology, or Geophysics. It’s aimed at young Indians (under 30) from SC, ST, OBC, and General-EWS categories pursuing full-time professional programs at accredited institutions.

Annual family income under ₹4.5 lakh for SC/ST, and under ₹2 lakh for OBC/General-EWS

The Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Scheme, launched by Assam’s Higher Education Department in 2024–25, provides vital financial assistance to female students domiciled in Assam enrolled in Class XI, first-year undergraduate, or first-year postgraduate (including B.Ed.) courses at government or venture institutions—not private colleges.
Eligible students receive a monthly admission incentive via DBT:
₹1,000/month for Class XI
₹1,250/month for first-year undergraduates

Each payment is for up to 10 months, excluding summer vacations.

Available since October 2024 and now entering its second year of rollout, forms are being distributed from August 6, 2025, with coverage extended to Assam University students as well.
