The Scheduled Caste (SC) Scholarship Scheme in Assam is a centrally sponsored program offered by the Government of India through the Directorate of Welfare of SC & OBC. Designed to support SC students pursuing education from Class IX through postgraduate levels, this scheme provides both Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarship benefits.
Eligibility Criteria
Must belong to the SC community of Assam and be an Indian citizen.
For Pre-Matric (Class IX–X) and Post-Matric levels: Family income ≤ ₹2.5 lakh per annum.
For children engaged in unclean/hazardous occupations (Component‑II): No income ceiling, but must submit a specific certificate.
Benefits
Pre‑Matric (Class IX–X): Annual scholarship for day scholars and hostellers with extra allowance for Divyang students
Post‑Matric (Class XI and above): Varies by course level (degree, PG, professional), covering maintenance and tuition fees
